How to avoid instant gratification: 7 magical techniques

Who don’t want to enjoy life right? Life is one and it should be enjoyed but what if I tell you that these short term pleasure will destroy your life forever hmm…. sound scary isn’t it? Ya that’s true first the most amazing thing that everybody knows it but nobody wants to improve on it. Second if somebody knows it then don’t know to how to avoid instant gratification.

So guys don’t worry here in this article I will tell best and practical way to avoid instant gratification. But before getting into you should know what is instant gratification. So let’s get started.

What is instant gratification

Instant gratification is the term refer to pleasure we get from like watching television, wasting time on mobile, hangout with friends. Due to this we forget or forgo long term goal which do not give instant pleasure but for a long term it is beneficial for us. Now the definition is clear to you. Let’s move on to the solution.

How to avoid instant gratification

1. Life is one

I know from practical point of view this point seems to be unlogical but guys this is the most important point. You should first understand that there is no crime to go with the short term pleasure but the point here is that it should not destroy your life. So keep in mind that.

2. Have a goal

Having a goal is the solution for all. If you have a motivation to work on then you will be less attract toward instant gratification.

3. Space for everything

Look deleting all fun from your life sometime make your life stressful. It might be difficult for you sacrifice all these pleasure. The best thing you can do is keep a 1-2 hour of time for the fun activity in a day. This will also help you from burnout situation.

4. Reward  yourself

Like from above point it seems to be difficult to avoid instant gratification. You can reward yourself for doing hard work. For example you can go out after doing your work or have a delicious food. The point to remember here is only do this pleasurable thing as a reward. That is the best way to control instant gratification.

5. Make a quick shift

This is my personal favourite whenever you are tempted toward any pleasurable thing just shift your thought right away to other things. You can literally misguide your mind toward good things.

6. Ask question to yourself

Whenever you caught yourself indulge in any pleasure First you can ask yourself what is the benefit I get from it. Second does this benefit you for the long term. These self question will make a feeling of guilt that will help in staying from pleasure.

7. Have a accountability check on yourself

Tell someone in your family to check Whenever you feel like tempted toward any pleasurable thing he/she will remind you of your objective. I know this is not long term solution because nobody will be with you all the time. You have to take your responsibility on your own.
